Product description

Ava (Jessica Chastain) is a deadly mercenary who works for a black ops organization, travelling the globe and specializing in high profile hits. Ava’s career takes a bad turn when a high profile job goes wrong due to faulty information provided to her. With a botched hit (as well as a track record for questioning the validity of her targets), Ava is told to take a hiatus until the heat blows over, but secretly the head of the organization, Simon, (Colin Farrell) has ordered a hit on her to ensure nothing traces back to the company. With the recent death of her father, Ava decides to go back home to Boston and attempt to mend her relationship with her mother and sister, Judy, though the homecoming proves to be far from happy as the years of estrangement have created resentment. To complicate things further, Ava’s ex-fiancé, Michael is now in a relationship with Judy, and involved with an underground gambling ring that Ava knows all too well from her younger days. Ava now has to save her family and herself from multiple threats, while battling her own demons.

What a cast indeed the main character Jessica Chastain delivers a gutsy performance and a very seductive, assassin might I say, using all her sex appeal to get the job done. She is a very intense but somewhat confused assassin with a semblance of a conscious as she has degree of concern for some of her victims but the job comes first of course. Colin Farrell and John MalKovich are very incredibly convincing Malkovich as her handler and play equally great roles don't want to spoil to much but you need to watch this movie. The fight scenes are well thought out and pretty amazing to watch the ending is great and I would not change anything about this movie loved it.

Had a surprisingly realistic vibe to it. The characters were not iron-hearted, and there were some very touching redemption scenes. Jessica Chastain is a standout - although I seem to love Common in all his acting roles! Colin Farrell also does not disappoint. Loses a star for the unfinished ending ... I hate movies that end with an unfinished story!

Just a average movie with a plot that has been done to death .

Assasin based thriller, quite entertaining. Girl power and all that.

On the negative side, Ava herself is a bit of an unlikely assasin being that in some scenes she looks decidely unfit and clunky when running.

Really enjoyed this action/drama film with some big names. It's a plot we have seen before, an assassin who gets a hit put on her, with the added twist of some family dramas.

I didn't like this move as it was too violent. Thought this
would be a good movie with Jessica Chastain and Colin Farrell in it.
I watched it through to see the ending, a bit disappointed.

This is a great film if you really enjoyed the likes of Ghostdog and 300. Plenty of violent action - the fight scenes are especially realistic. The story is good, the acting excellent, but best of all is the narration at the end of the film. True warrior attitude. "Bushi Damashi" as they say in Japanese. I enjoyed this film very much and don't hesitate to recommend.
