It works!
5 Stars
It works!
Works quite well, seems to have good audio for the price if you have it at the right angle.I'm no expert, still trying to figure out how to get best audio, but attached an unedited audio sample. You may want to buy an XLR -> XLR cable as the included cable is a XLR -> 3.5mm, I already had bought one, so no problem for me.

First things first make sure you get the phantom power supply for this mic that can be easily found.
Now that is out of the way, this mic is great. It picks up everything in the background as you would expect so a quiet room would be ideal and some sound proofing would go a long way.
I used this for voice over gaming videos and it did the job, the boom arm works nicely strong and stays in place.

I have recently changed mics to the blue yeti, and still use the boom arm to mount the blue yeti (without shock mount). Holds it fine even though that is a much heavier mic.

This microphone is of exceptional value for money in the sense it is a reliable and well constructed piece of equipment for the beginner such as myself. I did find a few pros and cons on this microphone, which i will list below.

Pros:
- Good value for the cost.
- Easy to construct and space sensitive.
- Shipping was fast and arrived on time.
- The audio quality is very good, probably an 8/10 tbh.
- The microphone can pack away into a small box so it is portable which makes travelling much easier.
- Works with any computer with the right adaptation.

Cons:
- A phantom power supply is needed. I myself was fortunate enough to discover this in other people's reviews, however the description does not specify this/the microphone does not include a phantom power supply.
- I had a lot of trouble configuring the microphone on my computer due to the fact I only had a single jack on my laptop. THIS IS IMPORTANT! If you have a single jack on your computer, buy an adaptor that is a usb port with a headphone and microphone only jacks so you can use the microphone!! (Cost $15)
- If you're a neat freak the cabling may throw you off as there is a lot of it.

Apart from those factors I am thoroughly pleased with my microphone and will be using it a lot for recording, zoom calls and anything you want.

Once connected properly it works a treat!

Would definitely recommend, overall 7/10, only lower than 5 stars as I had to work out most of this on my own over 3 hours.

Purchased the NW-700 condenser mic,
Bought the phantom power along with it, plugged it audio jack into a USB sound card, microphone just buzzed and didn't pick up any noise.
Set it up just the way it was done on you tube from other users who purchased it, and it didn't work.
Tried an audio interface, still didn't pick up any noise from the microphone besides constant buzzing.
The stand works very well, replaced the NW-700 with another microphone.
Tried the microphone multiple ways, microphone came faulty out of the box.

Received a new mic, turns out the Audio jack to XLR cable they provided was faulty.
Microphone has good audio quality for the price.
If you're looking to buy a mic, don't even bother with the condenser one that needs phantom power, just buy the USB version. Went into a deep hole buying the other needed items along with it and spent much more than intended.

The headline is no lie - I've been using one of these microphones for most of my time as a home producer and just bought a second and I can say, without a doubt, this is one of the best entry-level microphones on the market. In this review I'd like to outline the quality of the microphone itself, the set-up process for those who are unfamiliar with condenser mics, a few challenges with different use-cases, and a comparison of my two NW-700s and their respective bundle of stuff.

To start with, the quality. The sound quality of this microphone is excellent for the price. Is it perfect? Not by any means, but condenser microphones offer incredible quality for less cost than dynamic microphones, and this model is no exception to that rule of thumb. As for build quality, the microphone is generally well built. It's not as heavy as you might expect after having worked with higher-quality condenser mics, but still well-built. As I mentioned in the introduction, I've had one of these for years now and it's never let me down with all I've thrown at it. As for the extras that you get, they're a wonderful bonus. The stand isn't of the highest quality, and it certainly won't be holding anything particularly heavy due to the relatively weak springs, but it's perfectly useable for the NW-700 it's bundled with. The wind filter is quite low-density, so it's not going to offer much in the way of protection against plosives or wind noise, but it's better than nothing. The pop filter does a better job at stopping plosives, and while it's not perfect it is a welcome addition nonetheless. The shock-mount is one of the weakest aspects of this product in both of my sets, but it holds the microphone well enough considering the price. This bundle also comes with an XLR (F) to 3.5mm audio jack (M), which I personally have little care for due to using a USB audio interface.

Now onto the setup. This microphone is a condenser, and as such requires 48v Phantom Power. This can be supplied in a number of ways; the cheapest (and what I originally opted for) is to use a phantom power supply. Neewer offer their own model, as do many other brands; I originally used a Behringer Micropower PS400, though I would advise against buying from them for ethical reasons. This is limited in that it doesn't have any sort of gain control. An option which avoids this issue is an audio interface, some of which offer phantom power with the addition of gain control, reduced input latency, and real-time monitoring. This is what I currently use, and works very well for studio applications. Be aware though: not all audio interfaces support Phantom Power - be sure to check the spec sheet before buying! In both of these instances, an XLR cable will need to be purchased. This additional setup cost is the main downside to this microphone, making it unsuitable for most casual users who merely want a simple microphone to use for zoom calls - a USB microphone would likely be preferable for this use-case - but for people wanting to do studio recordings or podcasting, something like this would be ideal.

Another side-effect of this microphone being a condenser is that it is very sensitive. This means it can be unsuitable for close-micing loud instruments, such as brass, woodwind, or drums. Despite this, I have been able to use this microphone for recording all of those instruments - it just takes a little more work to avoid clipping. For recording louder instruments including guitar amps, I would instead recommend a dynamic microphone (my current budget recommendation being the Pyle PDMIC78 at around £18). The NW-700, by nature of being a condenser, also has a sharp frequency roll-off with range, known as the proximity effect - the low-end is very present when up-close, and drops off significantly when moving more than 15cm (6") away, which can impact the sound quality of certain instruments. For vocal work, this microphone shines due to its clarity and the relatively low loudness of vocals.

Finally, onto the comparison between my older and newer bundles. The microphones are practically identical - doing an A/B test on the same audio source shows very little difference in sound quality, implying that the quality control is reasonable and has not degraded since I bought my first one. The main differences appear in the bundled items, which have a number of improvements and also a number of drawbacks over their predecessors. The desk mount for the boom arm now has the screw on the bottom, which avoids it getting in the way of the arm's swivel (something which very much annoyed me about the older version). The boom arm itself seems largely unchanged, although it now has a 3/8"-16 thread rather than the 5/8"-27 thread. An adaptor between the two thread sizes is included screwed into the shock mount. Speaking of which, the shock mount's elastic is much less stiff than the older version, which leads to more instability but (I would imagine) less vibrations when knocking the stand, desk, or microphone. I find the new shock mount's angle screw to have a much tighter grip than the original, preventing it from dropping down at random while recording. The wind shields are practically identical, but the newer pop filter seems to have significantly better articulation of the bendy bit, despite feeling cheaper in build quality than the older version. The included cable is just as cheap and nasty as I remember it being, but for most use cases this won't be needed anyway. Overall, I think the new bundle offers slightly lower build quality but with quality of life improvements to the stand that, in my opinion, make up for it.

So, to summarise: this microphone is great for the price, especially for vocals, but requires additional setup costs due to requiring phantom power which may make a USB microphone more desirable for non-studio use-cases, for example Zoom calls. For instruments, I would recommend the Pyle PDMIC78 instead due to its lower sensitivity, but the NW-700 is a good all-round mic that has served me well over the years. I will be buying more to record a podcast with later in the year.

As with most of these reviews, i REALLY recommend the cheap 48V phantom supply, or some other one.

Mic itself:
==========================================
Sound quality is very good. As accurate as it's going to get to capturing audio in this price range.
One thing to keep in mind i didn't know is, keep the side that says "Neewer" toward you. The mic does work with both sides, but the side with lettering is the actual side to use.
It feels well made with a metal housing and connector.
The foam that goes over it does smell a little weird tho. So either let it air out, or do what i did and spray a little bit of febreeze on it then let it dry.

The arm:
============================================================
Decent enough quality, is a little shaky but works good. If your going to be rotating the arm at the base i'd recommend putting a dab of oil on the shaft just so it swings more smoothly.
Most importantly, it stays where you put it, as long as you have everything adjusted.
Which i should also mention, you made need pliers to get some parts as tight as you'd want. Such as the isolater/mic mount to the end of the arm. I found i had to really tighten it to keep it from unscrewing when rotating the mic.
Other than that, i really can't complain for the money.
I should also mention, your going to want some small zip ties to ziptye the cable to the arm. Be sure to leave a few inches of slack at the joints.

Pop filter:
==============================================================
Has been working great.
It's done the job thats in it's name as well as filtering out any breathing noises.
You can breath near it moderately and it won't get picked up which is really nice.

Overall:
So if your a youtuber on a budget or looking for a decent recording mic that won't break the budget this is definitely a project to really consider. I haven't recorded any music with it yet, but i'll be sure to update this review when i eventually do.
Or if something breaks on it.
