In a far distant future, a psionic hormone was discovered in the human brain, granting people extra-sensory powers and changing the world as we know it. Just as humanity was entering this new era, deranged mutants known as Others began to descend from the sky with a thirst for human brains. Highly resistant to conventional attack methods, extreme measures needed to be taken to battle the overwhelming threat and preserve humanity. Those with acute extra-sensory abilities, known as psionics, were our chance to fight the onslaught from above. To this day, psionics have been scouted for their talents and recruited to the Other Suppression Force (OSF), humanity’s last line of defense. Take on the role of Yuito Sumeragi, a new recruit to the OSF aiming to become an elite psionic like the one who saved him as a child. Armed with a talent in psycho-kinesis, explore the futuristic city of New Himuka and uncover the mysteries of a Brain Punk future caught between technology and psychic abilities in SCARLET NEXUS.

I walked into this thinking it was going to be just another middling Anime-esque game from Bandai Namco, but shortly after playing it, I was proven absolutely wrong.
The game has an excellent, plot with beautiful Brainpunk inspired visuals. The combat system is excellent, as it is a great mashup of action and JRPG elements, and the music is over the top and one of the best game soundtracks I've heard this year. If you are on the fence about this as somebody who usually plays anime-esque games, this is well worth playing.
Shocked at how good this was. Only reason it’s not 5 is that the dialogue can be so painfully drawn out and waffly. Like a good 30% too much. Great game play though and an interesting story.
Why do JRPG’s still use static images instead of cut scenes to convey story?
I will admit, the combat was interesting but like so many JRPG’s there is sooooo much bloody story telling all done by non moving images with the usual stereotypically annoying voice acting that goes on for bloody ages interspersed with very brief (mildly fun) moments of combat
First the logistics - did not come with pre-order bonuses. Amazon also failed to deliver on release day.
Art style and environment bears a striking resemblance to Code Vein and God Eater, but with more stylish gameplay. Character models are amazing. Apparently the anime will be out in a few months.
However, too early to tell if this will eventuate into a new IP.
Edit: received pre-order bonus after contacting customer service.
