Echo In The Canyon - the illuminating new documentary film directed by Andrew Slater that explores the beginnings of the Laurel Canyon music scene (1965 -1967) through the stories of those who lived it, and the artists who carry its influence to this day - will be accompanied by a soundtrack celebrating the music of that era, to be released May 24th on BMG. The soundtrack features new studio recordings of timeless songs by The Byrds, The Mamas & The Papas and more, as interpreted by Jakob Dylan along with artists from the film including Fiona Apple, Beck, Jade Castrinos, Cat Power, Eric Clapton, Norah Jones, Regina Spektor, Stephen Stills, and Neil Young, plus songs exclusive to the soundtrack including a special performance of the Monkees’ classic “She” with Josh Homme.

The album is taken from a documentary, doesn’t include the bands listed on the front cover BUT since I got a new Mini HiFi for Christmas I’ve played it a few times on that and it has grown on me quite a bit.

No soy ni nostálgico ni coleccionista: son versiones realmente buenas que aportan algo a la original. También es una oportunidad para descubrir canciones o grupos que el día a día hacen que hayas pasado por alto.

Para mí un gran descubrimiento. Vi primero el documental y luego escuché el disco en plataforma digital.

El vinilo es un lujo. De los que te tienes que comprar.

this is a heart on sleeve, loving look at the California folk-rock scene, specifically Laurel Canyon. Nothing to dislike here with gems from the Byrds and other 60's greats. There isn't a lot of deviation from the originals and that's OK as this project is really an homage to the artists that created them. Great recording with top quality artists led by Dylan, worth the money.
