After coding professionally for 16 years I finally looked into buying a keyboard for more than $20, so perhaps not surprising that I'm enjoying this one so much. I did try to purchase a great mechanical keyboard before this one, but realized that mechanical keyboards are simply not for me. I love the feel of this one, with scissor-type switches it feels like a nice laptop. Low profile is also very important for me for ergonomic reasons, as all mechanical keyboards turns out require a wrist pad to be ergonomic. Automatic white backlight and switching between PCs are cool too. Charges fast and holds charge well (at least when new). Great typing feel and consistency, no issues with mistyping as soon as I got used to it a little bit. Would be even better if they had a TKL version (full keyboard but without the num key block that I almost never use, but not mini that messes with arrow keys and pgup pgdn).

This is a lovely keyboard. If you are used to Apple products this is probably going to be something that feels good on your fingertips. It's a pretty silent keyboard so don't expect clickity-clack if you enjoy hearing keys. It's a lovely heavy metal frame and it stays put and doesn't slide around on your desk. The keys are plastic but feel good. They have slight indents in them. Battery life is impressive but i keep mine plugged in anyway as it doesn't bother me having the USB-C Cord plugged in. Having the option to wire it up is nice if you need a backup instead of always relying on wireless. I love the illumination option (It will drain battery quicker) it's great when working in a dark room, typing or gaming. It feels really nice and it has a nice slight back lift so it's not entirely flat which I like. But it still gives that lovely aesthetic look of a flat keyboard. There's a lot to love about this and nothing to dislike. It is a premium cost for a premium product. Well worth the price.

Super comfortable, light on typing and the backlit is an extra that makes total difference when using on dusk.
Also, pairing with three devices is a function I never bother until I shared it between devices, and the press of a button to change is really handy.
For last I have to talk about the battery: I've been using it for a while, and can't tell for sure if I had to charge often - if I do, the Type-C connection makes life easier with "one cable charges all" in the office.
I do recommend the matching mice MX Master 3.

This feels solid. I got a cheaper keyboard before this which was fine, but I slipped over while holding it and it bent like a piece of paper. So I wanted something solid this time. The keyboard on this is beautiful, fantastic touch. Having a backlight on a wireless keyboard is unheard of, so big plus, and it only lights up when your hands approach it...black magic, yes, but I'm convinced of it's awesome wizardry!

Yes, backlight uses more battery, but it can be turned off if that's a concern, or just leave it plugged in to the handy USB-C port. What I really like is that this supports both Mac and Windows; great keyboard layout and everything just works. Most importantly, if you haven't used it for a while, then start typing, it just responds immediately. The cheaper keyboards would have to wake up, typically with a button press - so yeah, it saves battery life but I'd rather have a keyboard that works when I need it to.

Highly recommend this product.

This keyboard has it all - quiet keys, satisfying action, good spacing and some well thought out design touches. If you want a keyboard that 'feels' great with impressive battery life, this could be your device.

So why did I take off a star? Ok here are the gripes -

- half size function keys - such a common design decision these days, why!?
- the default setting of the function keys is for computer settings, occasionally it will reset and you have to manually change it back to function keys which is way more frustrating than it sounds.
- the escape key is double sized at the expense of all other keys in the row. It's on the corner, it doesn't need to be large! Logi could have made all the other keys are little bigger.
- I've left the best till last - F12 is the second last key on the row. Second last! You have to retrain your muscle memory if using this keyboard.

All minor gripes but depending on the type of user you are, you could find it pretty annoying. All that aside this key board remains a solid recommendation. As I said earlier, it 'feels' really good to type on and gives a great overall experience.

I'll finish on a positive - the keys light up when you put your hand *near* them. No keypress required. One of the nicest touches I've seen on a device for some time.

This keyboard does what you expected of it without any hassle. I've been using it for 2 years.
You can seamlessly switch between 2 devices that are paired & continue typing.
The material from which the keys have been made feel soft on the fingers. If you are someone who has to type a lot, this keyboard is something you should consider.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, But not value for money

I am really loving this product. It has lot of features. But from the pricing point, its overpriced. Initially I thought of going with apple magic keyboard when I look into the price. But there some important features which I am looking for is missing in apple which I found in this which is backlight since i mostly work in night. Let see about pros and cons.

Pros:
1. Good build quality
2. In my search i found this only keyboard fully compatible with both Mac and windows along with backlight option
3. Fully compatible with mac and windows
4. Easy switching between device with single click dedicated button in full sized keyboard. Actually, it works instantly when clicking the switch button. when i switch from windows to Mac M1, it wakes the up if it is in sleep or power saver mode.
5. Looks very similar to apple keyboard
6. Key placement is similar (but not fully) to laptop built-in keyboard and mac (But initially you will struggle when typing without seeing the keyboard since key travel time is not same as MacBook or laptop
7. almost all the media keys work without Logitech options+ software except screen brightness control function. In my opinion, if you are not planning for key customization, no need for Logitech options+ software just for the keyboard.
8. Button makes less noise compared the normal keyboard. button press is Almost giving the same feel of pressing premium laptop's built-in keyboard.

Cons
1. it's not the compact size. So, you will struggle reaching the mouse if you're coming from the user of compact sized keyboard.
2. Logitech options plus software will not give more functionality with this keyboard (almost with any supported keyboard) like flow with this keyboard if you're not using the compatible Logitech mouse like mx master series or mx anywhere. Almost software is useless apart from few buttons' customization. If software's full potential needs to be utilized, then. compatible mouse is required.
3. Logitech claims that with smart backlight on, battery will last up to 10 days. But I don't think. Iam using this as a daily driver for past 4 days. Now its 50%. But it's fine as i am enjoying the backlight functionality.
4. The letters printed on the keys are easy to view in normal lighting condition. But in below average lighting environment condition, letters are not clearly visible. In normal keyboards without backlight, its clearly visible in low light conditions. But with backlight on (even with Low back light brightness) its clearly visible

In my conclusion, if you're looking for keyboard replacement or alternate to apple magic keyboard, you will miss the touch id option in some variant of magic keyboard. It's your choice to decide which feature you really need either back light or work between multiple operating system environment or keyboard with touch id. If you're okay for sacrifice touch id feature, this will be the good choice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rugged and Superb for dual systems, but expensive
Reviewed in India on 14 January 2022

This is a combined review for Logitech MX Keys and MX Master 3 mouse. I purchased them together.

I have an iMac 5K and Windows Laptop with 27" monitor. I was struggling (for space) with two KBs and two mice. So while looking for the solution, I found the perfect answer - the MX combo. I read about the duo. These are fairly expensive but they have significantly increased my productivity. I have connected to both systems via BlueTooth (we can use the dongles also). Now I can simply move my mouse across and seamlessly connect to Mac or Windows and the KB too connects across. The two behave like two bodies and one soul! I can copy/paste across two systems as diverse as Mac and Windows. I have a provision to connect to a third system. Having freed the clutter on the desk has made my life so much easy. The desk looks clean also and of course, there are no wires.

The KB is solid aluminium and does not feel cheap. To date, I was using plastic keyboards. While they are not bad, this KB takes me to a different realm. The keys are illuminated and activated by the hand motion sensor. The keys are low profile - so some who like mechanical keys and long travel keystrokes may not like this. I prefer this way.

The mouse has programmable keys and I can have keys specific to Word, Excel, Photoshop, etc. The scrolling is smooth. There is normal vertical scrolling, superfast vertical scrolling. I have horizontal thumb scrolling and a tiny recessed button to save (below the thumb). I have read some negative feedback on the system switch button (1-2-3) at the mouse bottom and being inconvenient but let me assure you that if Logi Options software is installed, the flow from one desktop to another is just by moving the mouse. It can be further restricted by having to press the control key to prevent accidental movement to next desktop screen.

Finally, both the devices can be charged by a cable and it connects by USB-C port on the devices. I am told that a single charge is sufficient to last over two months. Let's see.

In summary, I will highly recommend this, especially to those having multiple systems. But even if you have a single system, you cannot go wrong - except maybe your pockets will become shallower. For this, I am docking off one point for VFM. Since I do not play games (not that I am against gaming), I am unable to comment on that aspect.

The MX Keys KB is quite expensive in India, nearly 1.5 times the USA price. Hence docking off one point.

p/s. I also purchased the desk mat that is seen in the pic. It enhances the desk and makes it look really good.

Vedaant A.
4.0 out of 5 stars Exactly as advertised. Connecting could be easier.
Reviewed in India on 9 July 2022
Verified Purchase
To sum up, it is exactly what is advertised. A keyboard that can connect to three devices, has square keys with round depressions, and lights up when your fingers are around.

Keys and backlight: the light up feature is a little distracting, I'd prefer it to always be on. Besides that, the keyboard really isn't much. But I guess that's the point - the keys do their job, they're as tight as my Acer Nitro 7's keyboard yet responsive. They're not as tactile as the Macbook Pro 2018 - but that's a good thing, I won't get tired typing on this. Spacing is working for me. The fn key placement sucks. Drawing triangles mid-air to close windows in Windows. Takes getting used to, I'll just switch function keys to be function keys.

Form factor: It's good for office (discrete except the distracting proximity light thingy) but not worth the price. Oh and it's heavy which feels um premium, but takes getting used to. Decreases travel-friendliness. Length *just* fits in my messenger bag.

Features: Height/angle is not adjustable. There aren't a lot of media/etc keys - which I don't like.

Connectivity: The pairing is NOT straightforward, you have to hold the easy switch keys for a full 3 seconds - might be a feature. Pairing with Unifying Receiver - I couldn't figure it out, gave up, installed Logi Options - found an Add Device button there. But my use case? My laptop's keyboard doesn't work so that was 10x more inconvenient.
The Flow thing doesn't work for my work laptop with personal - it might be some settings on the work one. But the software could be more elaborate on what it means when it's "trying to find another device" - using WiFi? The keyboard? The whole WWW?

Suggestions: The K380/K480 might be a better option, perhaps even with this selling at half its price.

EDIT: increased a star. I've grown to love this thing. The build is pretty comfortable, keys are perfect for me, the light up thing gives it a familiar feel when approaching after a break, like it's happy to see you :D
Connectivity has improved - it instantly paired with the second Unifying receiver I had, the first was troublesome - dunno why.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chose Business version with amazing shortcuts.

One of my keys stopped responding after a few months and I had to get a replacement. When getting a replacement please note that if you courier it to the service centre, they will courier it back. If you are a walk in customer you’ll have to pick it up as well. Found that annoying.

Anyways they didn’t have my model in stock so replaced it with an business version that had shortcuts on the keyboard for video calls - I found the mute most useful. I know you can configure it using a keyboard software, but having an icon on the keyboard just makes this a Lot better. people who advice others not to take shortcuts in life haven’t experienced this keyboard.

And yes the keys are nice to use. Much like my MacBook Pro. The dimple in the key actually does a a great job.
