About the authors
Todd Fong is an American writer and photographer living in Japan since 2014. He travels extensively in Japan, writing and photographing Japan's many off-the-beaten-path destinations and events. He is also an avid kimono fan and has co-produced a kimono fashion book in Japan with legendary kimono expert Sheila Cliffe along with photographing many kimono fashion editorials and portraiture.
Many of Todd's articles and other written work can be found online on travel and lifestyle websites like Voyapon, Metropolis Japan and Tokyo Weekender, and on official tourism websites such as Visit Kyushu, Setouchi Reflection Trip, and Shinshu Iiyama Tourism.
Tom Fay is a British writer who has been living in Japan since 2007. He has written extensively about the outdoors and travel in Japan, both online and in print for the likes of The Guardian, The Japan Times, Forbes Travel Guide, Japan Travel, Wanderlust Magazine and many other media outlets.
He has a keen interest in mountaineering and landscape photography, and is the main author of the guidebook 'Hiking and Trekking in the Japan Alps and Mount Fuji' published by Cicerone Press. He has also written chapters for Lonely Planet and Fodor's Travel, and is working on the first dedicated English-language guidebook to Hokkaido, due to be published by Bradt in 2023.

This book is lovely. Easy to read, nicer pages, lots of info. There is also a pull out map that is A3 sized. If you need specific info on hotels etc, you'll still want the usual Lonely Planet book to compliment this one.

Much better prepared for our trip to Japan later.
