I’ve never unboxed something so simple to set up. Which explains why the instructions are just pictures that don’t seem very helpful when looking at them alone. You literally just take out the monitor unit, the camera unit, and the power plug. Plug the camera unit in, turn it on and it’s done! You get one plug but it’s a standard usb-c connection so you can use another charger to keep the monitor charged up. The camera unit needs to be connected to a power source to work. No wifi or Bluetooth etc needed (think of it like a walk or talkie, the two parts just communicate with each other with their little antennas), works fine through double brick walls. Nice clear picture and sound, and the ability to talk through the monitor to your child or play a lullaby. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of fancy (expensive) baby cams, eg you can’t save videos or view via an app on your phone etc. This is a nice simple old school style, offline monitor that would be perfect for grandparents, babysitters, or anyone looking for a low tech / more secure way to keep an eye on their little one.
I have an iBaby that has all the features but requires wifi etc. I’m very happy with it as I can access it from my phone and that’s very useful for doubling as a security camera for when we aren’t home. However I wanted a simpler option so that if someone else is babysitting, I can just hand them the monitor without messing about with connecting them to apps etc. It’s also the perfect solution for travel or camping. If you put the kids to bed in the caravan but want to sit outside and enjoy the stars, you can use this without needing phone reception or WiFi etc. You’ll just need a power source (a battery pack would work fine) for the camera unit. Cannot fault this unit. It’s simple, easy to use, does what you need it to do, portable, and reasonably priced. Extremely happy that we found this solution and my only advice is don’t overthink the instructions to set it up - just plug the camera in, turn both units on and it’s done. (It does come with a simple mounting bracket in the box for anyone interested)
