Apple Watch 7 with stainless steel case listed on Amazon for the same price as Apple Watch 8 with aluminium case with features I didn’t need, time to try one out! And significantly cheaper than the “feature over-kill” and huge display of an Apple Watch Ultra has, too!!
First unboxing had me worried though. The Apple Watch 7 arrived with a dead-flat battery, so on the charger for a couple of hours before I could do anything.
“Patience, Padawan!! Once charged your watch is, start your watch will do.”
It can be a little challenging to set up and optimise, but there’s a fair bit of information available via Google and the Apple website. Cellular set up via Vodafone was simple and quick, the rest of the set up took an overnight session (syncing the watch was SLOW!).
After the mandatory WatchOS update forced upon my new watch and sync requirement with the iPhone overnight, the Apple Watch 7 lost its pairing and then would not pair again with iPhone 12 Mini regardless no of what I did to fix it up, but to Apple’s credit the iPhone and Apple Watch 7 sorted their issues out with minimal interaction - I just needed to stop fiddling with them and leave them alone to sort out their differences.
Grabbed some watch faces, set up health apps and (after a fair bit of research via Google and Apple) mucked around with power settings so the battery would last beyond 15 hours. So far, so good. Got rid of some rubbish apps, too.
Very recent purchase and optimisation, can be fiddly to set up and a ton of patience is mandatory, but happy enough with it to review and recommend it.
