Product description

Made just for mirror less cameras is the new Rokinon 12mm T2.2 NCS CS Ultra Wide Angle Cine Lens. Its 35mm focal length equivalency for Olympus and Panasonic Micro 4/3 (MFT) Mount Digital Cameras is 24mm. With a T2.2 maximum aperture, it is particularly effective in low-light capture and can control shallow depth of field for precise subject focus with pleasing out-of-focus backgrounds. It offers a minimum focus distance of 7.9" and its front filter thread accepts 67mm size filters.. The lens's impressive optical construction consists of three Extra-low Dispersion elements, one aspherical, and one hybrid aspherical element. The nano-crystal coating is applied to the inner surface of the two front-most lens elements to minimize ghosting and flare and improve overall image clarity. As a lens designed for shooting HD video, it offers features that differentiate it from "photo lenses," which, of course, can also serve to shoot HDSLR video. However, Rokinon Cine lenses have a clickless aperture ring, which is not only silent but enables smooth transitions between stops and the ability to shoot between those stops. Furthermore, it relates aperture in T-stops (Transmission-stops) which is a more accurate measurement of the light entering the lens that actually makes its way to the image sensor and is a more consistent measurement from lens to lens. Additionally, a Cine lens features geared aperture and focus rings to enable the use of focus pull apparatus such as a follow focus system.

From the manufacturer

Rokinon Cine Fixed Lens

The Rokinon 12mm T2.2 Cine Lens is a wide-angle lens optimized for digital cinematography. The lens produces an image circle that will cover APS-C sized sensors or smaller. For use with a follow focus unit, the focus and aperture rings feature industry-standard 0.8 pitch gearing. The aperture ring is also de-clicked to allow for smooth iris pulls while shooting. Focus, aperture, and depth of field markings are on the side of the lens to aid focus pullers, who typically operates on the side of the camera.

In MFT (Micro 4/3) mount with an angle of view of 83.0°, the lens is well-suited for shooting landscapes, architecture, and for use in tight interior locations. It's fast maximum aperture of T2.2 also makes the lens suitable for shooting low-light conditions. Three extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements have been incorporated into the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion in order to produce sharper images.

  • 12mm lens with 83.0 angle-of-view
  • Image Circle covers APS-C sized sensors
  • Industry Standard 0.8 pitch gearing on focus and aperture rings
  • De-clicked aperture for smooth iris pulls
  • 12 elements in 10 groups, including two aspherical and a three ED elements
  • A minimum focusing distance of 7.87"
  • 67mm front filter thread
  • Includes bayonet mount lens hood

Great lens, it just changed my set up, making it more compact without affecting image quality, it even make it look closer to the footage I get with the BMpCC 6k pro.

The image you’ll get is so sharp.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Budget Lens

Honestly, for the money, you can't go wrong. Keeping in mind t/stop is different than f/stop, and this lens works out to about a f/1.8 rather than an f/2.2.

I use this lens on a Panasonic Lumix G6. It doesn't have autofocus and is full manual, which is totally fine. Just know that before purchasing. The glass is high quality, and wide open there is very little blur. I'm really happy with this purchase.

This lens shoots awesome video and stills.

First off let me say, this lens is amazing!! I paired it with my GH5 and the video and pictures they produce together are so rich and crisp. It is my go to lens for video, I was thinking the 12mm would be a little distorted, but its not. The aperture and focus rings are great especially since I use a crane to shoot. It makes it easier to change the settings without having to go in camera.

I love this lens though, it has a nice build quality and has a little weight to it. Its definitely my new favorite lens. I've attached a still photo from a video I've recently shot using this lens.
