Description

Modern NLP techniques based on machine learning radically improve the ability of software to recognize patterns, use context to infer meaning, and accurately discern intent from poorly-structured text. In Natural Language Processing in Action, readers explore carefully chosen examples and expand their machine's knowledge which they can then apply to a range of challenges.

Key Features

• Easy-to-follow

• Clear examples

• Hands-on-guide

Audience

JavaScript will be helpful.

About the technology

Natural Language Processing (NLP) is the discipline of teaching computers to read more like people, and readers can see examples of it in everything from chatbots to the speech-recognition software on their phone.

I liked the structure of the book. Looking forward for the next edition of this book. I would urge to include transformers and large language models in the next edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great coverage of NLP methods in Chatbot vehicle.

I have studied NLP/CL methods individually, but had never put it altogether in a single applied product/package. This book ties many of the methods/tools together into a viable application package. I may never write a chatbot for actual use, but this 'vehicle' helps me connect the dots of many individual NLP tools... each of which are a study in their own right. Good job.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great review, and very enjoyable to read!

I read this textbook almost cover to cover (which is very rare with technical textbooks) as it was very well written and enjoyable to read. I feel like I have gotten a very good understanding of the challenges and subtleties of natural language processing (and I know where to look if I need more details about a specific thing). The tutorials/code examples are also very clear and helpful - it helps a lot to code along when you read and experiment!

This is my second Manning textbook (after Deep Learning with Python by Francois Chollet), and I definitely love this publishing house: textbooks written in conversational English (so it's great to read) with a reasonable depth and precision in explanations. Another bonus is that I absolutely love the covers artworks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Descriptive and very well organized

It took me quite some time to research the topic and identify a book best fit for my needs. As someone who works and is seeking immediate application of knowledge. This book is so far one of the best I have purchased over the past 2 years since I started my Python adventure and opening up windows on the universe of data science and machine learning. The explanations are enlightening, the code well commented. I haven't gone too far yet but I can already see where the book is leading me and must say studying this book has brought me back to my youth when I studied with passion - very well done!
