I do like the sound and comfort but it needs equalizer for a nice full sound.

I do like the sound and comfort but it needs equalizer for a nice full sound.
I do like the sound and comfort but it needs equalizer for a nice full sound.CORSAIR's iCUE software doesn't really work as well as I hoped and the equalizer settings do nothing but I use other equalizer software so it didn't matter to me.I was warned about the comfort and the need for bigger ear pads but I found it ok without them.I do like the clamping force. It's not too strong, great for me when I wear glasses.Other headsets can press in far too much for comfort and glasses at the same time. The sound is flatter than I liked with underemphasized sub bass but it can produce good range with EQ settings. Comparing them to my Razor blackshark V2 pro the sub bass response is about the same but only after is been through equalizer. The low mids, mids and upper mids are good and the highs up to about 10 hz.I am not sure about anything higher as I lost my ability to hear anything over 12hz from too many years playing the drumsOut of the box it is quite thin, so if you like bass you will need to use an equalizer. The wireless range is not as good as I would have liked but passable. The Bluetooth range seems to be longer. The Bluetooth works well and it is really this very handy feature that I choose these for.Being connected Bluetooth and wirelessly to PC at the same time is nice and is easy to setup.Overall if you thinking of these for PlayStation or Xbox I am not sure I can recommend, it might work out ok but seeing as I don't own either I can not test that and as far as I can tell equalizer settings are not saved to the headset and it really needs EQ to sound as nice as say the Razor blackshark V2 pro.Quality and style looks to be really nice.Life and reliably will be the real test.I would recommend for PC gamers who need wireless usb and Bluetooth connection simultaneously.

I have wanted these headphones for a while but could not justify the price. $369 is *Steep* for gaming headphones unless they bring something remarkable to the table. I am coming from Steel Series Arctis 7s which are already a premium level headset and for the most part the Corsair Virtuoso SE's are on par with the Arctis 7s. There are a few differences though some are good, some are bad.

The Good
- USB-c charging. Awesome.
- Quilted padded carry/storage bag
- USB-c, wireless and 3.5mm jack usage modes
- The Corsair Virtuoso SE headset is extremely well made and visually stunning. The cans are encased in a brushed aluminium housing and the joints and swivels are easy to manipulate without being flimsy. These headphones look very good. Corsair has gone all out on the aesthetics and it shows. The headset is beautiful. The volume roller is metal and the buttons, switches and ports are all recessed into the can housing.
- The headband is well padded and sits comfortably on your head. It's bendy enough to accommodate even the biggest of heads. This coupled with the large ear pads means the headset is comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. For comparison the Arctis 7 ear pads and headband are MORE comfortable but the Corsair headset is still very good.
- The sound out of these is phenomenally good. They are certainly some of the best sounding headphones I have ever used. The EQ settings in the drivers allow you to tweak and improve the sound to fit your desired use. Corsair are to be commended on the extremely good sound produced from these.
-Audio cues for different actions are talked through the headset to you in a pleasant, natural sounding female voice. “Battery charging/ Charged”, “Surround on/off” etc.
- Volume is excellent. The unit has the ability to be LOUD when you want it to be. Which cannot be said for the Arctis 7s. My one gripe with Arctis7s is that at max volume they aren’t loud enough. Not the case with the Virtuoso’s :D

The Bad
- The wireless range of this headset is *extremely* small. It is 2 -3 meters at best for me. This is in contrast to my Arctis 7s which can keep a connection right out to 10 -12m. This is the most disappointing aspect of these Corsair headphones and would seriously affect their suitability for PS4 gaming should you have a very large TV and sit a good few meters back from it.
- The Earpads are round, perfectly round and while this is not a bad thing per sei, it’s worth considering if your ears touching the earpads can be an issue for you. The Arctis 7s earpads are rectangular ovals for comparison. I don’t personally have an issue with these Corsair earpads and find the unit quite comfortable to wear.
- The drivers are Corsair iCue which is great if your other peripherals are also Corsair (mine are) but the feature set is minimal. Surround on/off, the EQ and RGB programming.

Untested
- I can’t comment on the microphone supplied with this headset as I don’t use it. I use a stand alone mic setup. The microphone is, however, also well made and compliments the look of the headset. It has a green LED on the end that is on when the mic is in use and a metal mesh covering the tip.
Overall, I think the Virtuoso SE headset is a great piece of hardware and a slight upgrade from my Arctis 7s. Sound wise they are noticeably better than my Steel Series Arctis 7s which they replaced, but priced at $369 they are perhaps a little too expensive for what they are. However, they certainly exude quality in every aspect which cannot be said for other high-end gaming headphones which are “plasticky” and cheap looking in comparison.
When available on sale at Amazon for $314 they are a much easier purchase to justify.

Final Verdict: Fantastic sound, premium look and feel. Great connection options. Shockingly bad wireless range. Pricey but justifiable.

2021 UPDATE: The was a firmware update for the slipstream dongle that comes with these headphones that *GREATLY* improved the wireless performance of these headphones. The wireless range extends out to about 10m now which is more than enough for most applications.

Sounds from headphones is great. No issues connecting or pairing with wireless dongle. Was a little uncomfortable initially but believe was mainly due to not correctly fitting. No issues wearing for extended gaming periods. Include Dolby Atmos sounds is a nice feature. Mic works very well.

Major Letdown is the iCue software for these headphones. Like most Corsair products, connectivity issues with iCue is painful, frustrating and in most cases little that can be done. Headphones occasially drop connection from iCue (which could be due to other connected Corsair products). Still have sound but quality of sound changes until you connect back up to iCue and reconnect dolby funtion.

No issues with comfort. Love the fact I can listen to music from my phone via Bluetooth as of yet no one has called me while I’ve been using it.
