Very efficient piece of equipment. The built quality is good and compact.I've used the optical cable to connect the audio and used the USB merely for power supply. However I believe you can use the USB connection for both audio and powering the device. The bluetooth signal quality is exceptional and did not need line of sight to remain functional. Best to leave the volume control on the device to max as it has no remote control. Have to control volume from the headphones or source.
