Damaged Screw Extractor Set

Reverse Use Drill

The screw extractor set will easier to remove broken tips with the reverse principle.

How to Use the Screw Extractor?

Step 1: #6-#10 size of drills needs to be installed in the socket adapter firstly, then attach it to the extension bit holder. (The other sizes (#1-#5) can be attached to the extension bit holder directly)

Step 2: Use the drill (Dr) bit to drill a hole in broken screws. (Note: drill deeper will easier to take out)

Step 3: Change to use the extract (Ex) bit with the same size.

Step 4: Reverse use the drill and take out the broken bit.

Note:

1. It is recommended to use electric hand drill instead of the hammer drill.

2. Must drill a hole first when the damaged screw surface is smooth. Otherwise the drill bit will slip.

This is an excellent little set for simple jobs. It might not be suitable for cases where screws are sheared because they're glued into place with Loctite, but it worked amazingly well for removing a hex socket screw on some electronics that had been sheared due to over-torquing at the factory.

I'd recommend going slowly up in sizes and being careful about whether you need to use the drill bit before the screw bit; for certain fasteners you might make things worse by drilling first (like sockets).

Working on vintage electronic device where the screw was so old that it was difficult unscrew. Someone suggested to get "Grabit" screw extractor but was way too expensive. And saw this cheaper option, and took a chance.

It works but the trick is, use Drill bit provided first and then use Extractor bit (in reverse direction set for Drill and the one 'larger' bit. The Drill bit just drills enough for the Extrator bit to it's magic.

Low quality but I paid for what I get. May opt for "Grabit" in the future if I want a more quality extractor bits. But I am happy with it so far.

Used this set to remove a stripped screw that was screwed into a brick wall. It worked well and I was able to remove the screw. Funnily enough, the next day I also managed to remove 1 of the 2 screwed that was screwed into a chopping board and #9 extractor just snapped without even having the drill driver at any sort of torque. Seems removing 1 screw was enough for it. Like a one time lover!

The drill bits seem to go blunt easily. One would really need to work slowly to open up a whole for the extractors. With them you would also need to work really slowly as they (claim to be harder than H.S.S steel, but they do break.

For the money, I will buy again as they do the job.

i guess you get what you pay for, have only just had an opportunity to try this product out and it didn't work at all, No instructions in the box, had to look on line, followed but no success. The drill portion doesn't actually make an impact and then the extractor portion just turns around and doens't grip.

After a couple of failed attempts with smaller bits, I managed to get the stripped screw out.

No instructions included with the item, so I had to refer back to the Amazon listing to figure out how it all worked.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming little tool!!

This thing works like a charm!! I had two stripped Phillips screws that i was never going to be able to remove, until i purchased this thing. Followed the instructions and I couldn't believe my eyes to see the screw unscrewing!! Love that it's on a nice little box with foam. However the printing on the foam rubs off so be careful not to put your fingers on it. I learned my lesson after the first time I seen it rubbing off. Wish the ink was permanent but as long as the tool works. I can judge what size i need so I really don't need the ink to stay, if it gets rubbed off. I totally recommend. Oh and take your time using it. They won't break if you used them right.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost a 5, but not quite

Nice little kit that includes all the sizes I'm likely to need and comes in a handy case. My only complaint is that there were no instructions. I used the drill bit in reverse thinking it may work to pull out the screw. However, it didn't do anything except make a hole in the screw. That's apparently exactly what it's supposed to do. I then used the actual screw "extractor" bit in reverse and it pulled the screw out nicely. Like I said, it worked well, but it would be helpful to include some basic instructions for people who have never used something like this before.

Great value - I bought these “just in case” I needed them. My son’s RC car had a stripped set screw this weekend, and it was very easy to remove using the screw extractor. Many sizes, so I think it will serve me well.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke the first time I used it
Reviewed in the United States on 25 October 2020

As noted, no instructions were provided with the product but it's simple enough.

The bolt was broken off flush in a water pump handle. I drilled a hole using drill bit 3 and then in inserted extract bit 3. The bit stripped when I tried applied pressure after it tightened up. I didn't use a hammer drill. So I enlarged the hole with drill bit 2 and then used extract bit 2 and it snapped off immediately upon applying some torque. I tried to drill out the extract bit stuck in the bolt but man, that's some hard steel. Hard but brittle, I guess.

I gave up the drilling after a few minutes of making no progress and ordered a new handle for less than the cost of the tool set. Your experience may be different--a lot of people have had success--but I don't recommend this product.

Amazon accepted the tool set for return, postage paid. Thanks Amazon!
