Folk-pop with a biting sense of humor made it a sonically and lyrically engaging favorite of college listeners. This is also the album that brought the Scottish band fame in the U.K. and the U.S. The original vinyl pressings are treasured by collectors, but now everybody can get the vinyl version with this repressing. The 10 songs include "The Stars of Track and Field," "Seeing Other People," "Me and the Major," "Like Dylan in the Movies," "The Fox in the Snow," "Get Me Waya from Here, I'm Dying," the title cut, "Mayfly," "The Boy Done Wrong, Again," and "Judy and the Dream of Horses."

When this hit the shops in Glasgow it flew off the shelves, the previous e.p offerings, often qued up for on release dates, no really!! were a big hit on the west coast so expectataions were high. They delivered in every way as 'Sinister' is just the biz, great tunes, and melodies, sparse but perfect woozy chamber pop arrangements plus pithy one liners that still hit the spot today. Recorded in five days, from rehearsals in a Parish church that Stu was the caretaker of in late 96, the end result is for me a slice of Glasgow at that time. The whole thing has a classic 60's vibe, with a low key punk ethos and spiky narratives that make it timeless in my humble view. Ten slices of life in all it's sentimental nostalgic bliss, a wonderful album that I've smiled at every time I play it. Maybe their best album ever?
