As an absolute last option to resolve the behavioural problems associated with a dachshund that had the worst separation anxiety imaginable, I thought we would give this collar a try.
Fully convinced we had adopted the spawn of the devil who was starting to really upset the neighbours and make home life not fun, I wasn't really hopeful.
However, this little gadget is a game changer.
The dog has gone from a relentless howler and yelper to a wonderfully enjoyable, dog, who seems happier as well.
Received on a Monday and trialed Monday afternoon. It took a few goes, mostly user error as the manual is not that prescriptive (and diagrams are wrong). That same afternoon we went out and left the dog behind. The normal routine for leaving the house involved several treats, putting puppy into the crate, and listening to him howl, yelp, and bark so loudly it could be heard through a locked house, inside my car. Reported by the neighbours that this behaviour would only stop after hours. Which led to us never being able to leave the house with huge stress. The first time we left the house after putting on the collar, we left we had to press the warning beep 3 times and vibrate twice and silence. Returned to the house to a very excited but silent dog (NEVER not once has that happened).
He also sleeps overnight in his crate, with no crying, and no accidents, which is another miracle in itself.
I was so hesitant trying this due to the stigma attached, but I'm so glad I just did it.
The next morning, the crying was very brief when leaving the house and 1 activation of the warning beep stopped him immediately.
For those who don't realise - just noting this is a remote activated collar only. Which works for us because we are home a lot and I want the dog to still bark if there is a threat. However, if your dog is a problem barker, this probably isn't the right fit for you.
