We absolutely love these blind motors. They are strong enough to operate even our wider, longer and heavier blinds. And they are relatively quiet. (Not quiet enough to operate them in the morning without waking you up - but quieter than the blind chain motors.)
Setting them up on HomeAssistant with ZHA is a matter of minutes.
The two things that could be improved: (1) Depending on which version you get, the manual at times can be a bit difficult to follow. (2) The solar panel does not always deliver enough power to keep the battery charged (e.g. after several rainy days). Trying to identify that an empty battery is the issue takes a while. And there is no clear instruction that explains that you need to charge the battery, then turn off the motor and turn it on again to make it respond to your ZigBee controller (ZHA).
Still, despite these, this is one of the best investments we made. We love the fact that all our blinds now automatically operate depending on sun-rise/sunset and other events (which is not possible with just the remote, but through the ZigBee interface/ZHA with HomeAssistant).

I started with the Eve MotionBlinds, but had to return it due to the broken Matter/Thread implementation. This blind/shade motor was relatively easy to install and setup, and connected easily to ZHA on Home Asisstant. It's quieter than the (much more expensive) Eve MotionBlinds, and was concerned it only had 0.8 nm of torque compared to 1.1 of the Eve MotionBlinds but it handles my (relatively heavy) shades really well and can't tell the difference. The instructions were a bit off but not hard to figure out. The cap didn't fit perfectly but a couple rubber bands did the trick.

A few things to be aware of:
- No battery entity available like the Eve, so we know when it's low in Home Assistant.
- No external covers for the mounts available like the Eve one.
- The 'setup' button is in the battery compartment, not noted in the instructions.

Pretty happy so far. Motor is significantly cheaper than may other branded options available in Australia. Installation was pretty easy, although the rubber drive was a little too big to fit into my 38mm OD tube - I had to sand it down slightly to get it to fit. The motor comes with a one channel remote that works well and looks good, but NOTE! the instructions in the manual for setting the blind up/down limits are wrong. I spent a frustrating couple of hours getting it to work. The solution is simple though - where the manual tells you to press the setting button once (under a picture of the MOTOR) - you need to press the setting button on the REMOTE instead (the button inside the battery compartment).

I've set up eight chain blind motors for standard configurations, but for three blinds in a bay window — where the chain would interfere with the blind's edge — I chose a tube motor instead. The tube motor offers a more refined operation compared to the chain motor. However, a notable benefit of the chain motor is its manual functionality; if the motor fails, the chain remains operable. Understanding the necessity of a remote for limit adjustments, I decided to experiment with integrating the system into Home Assistant via a Conbee II Zigbee controller and ZHA. This experiment was a resounding success. At present, the only feature not displayed is the battery status, but I'm hopeful this might be addressed in future updates. I've also managed to integrate it with Apple HomeKit using the Home Assistant HomeKit Bridge. Overall, I'm thoroughly pleased with the outcome and intend to purchase another five units over the next month or so.

Thought I'd give this a go since they are significantly cheaper than the major brands. I've been very happy with the quality and ease of setup. I've paired it with a Sonoff Zigbee hub configured with ZHA in Home Assistant. Everything worked flawlessly. I had to source some tube adapters because my blind tubes were 43mm (the motor itself is 20mm & comes with a 38mm insert).

The product is easy to install. Just works with the remote. The documentation supplied is great - clear and step by step instruction with illustration.

The product description however should be improved. The documentation said the motor torque is 0.8Nm. This is important but never mentioned in the listing, so potential customer may end up bought this motor but found it didn't perform as expected.

The documentation did mentioned there are other model with larger torque. This is what I would like so could the vendor provide more information ?

I've been looking for a smart blind solution where I can re-use my existing roller blind, use HomeAssistant with, and not break a bank - and I am fairly pleased with this.

It took me a while to find a curtain rod that's compatible, but I was able to find it by searching B099V4W7WV or metechs aluminum roller shade blind rod (I was able to cut it short by using a multitool). I feel like Tuya can help by either recommending a rod, or selling one directly at a reasonable price.

It is probably possible to use it directly with ZHA (zigbee home auromation), and not use the Tuya hub, but as of now (2023/06/03) ZHA doesn't really know how to set limits so I decided to stuck with the Tuya hub (by connecting HomeAssistant to HomeKit controller to Tuya hub).

Very good battery motors. Make sure the higbee hub is in the same room or very near.

In the package - one motor. The motor has 2 signal wires hanging out of the drive end. One pivot end insert for the blind tube - its a plastic insert with a round metal stub that sits in the pivot bracket. 2 brackets, a fixed end bracket with a flat tab that the motor slides over and a pivot side bracket with a plastic locking tab that you push down once the pivot stub is inserted. 2 cords. One 41” USB to mini USB to charge motor and one 80” USB male to USB female as an extension (so ~120” or cord length for those higher blinds. The provided cords are heavy duty and instructions say to use them - my guess is that it is related to amperage (current) needed to charge motor.

Installation - these can be outside mounted or inside mounted. The brackets come with holes to accommodate both types of mounting. I installed them on the inside of the window. After looking forever to find a DIY solution for roller blind tubes I bought the METech tubes on Amazon. They were WELL worth the price and they come with bottom weights that look great. The motor hardware fit perfectly inside the tubes. I cut the tubes and fabric 1 1/8 in shorter than the exact opening width. This allowed a perfect fit for the blinds on the brackets. I position the battery charging port so that I could easily access them (front facing) which positions the wires to the back. I then placed a small piece of of double sided tape on the window frame and tucked the wires against the tape so they could not get caught in the blind as it moves (we used a mesh type fabric for the blind so the edges are a bit rough)

Operation - I bought 5 motor only and 1 motor/9 channel remote, for a total of 6 motors. The connected perfectly with the instructions. Although the remote looks different that that in the instructions. The basic functions are intuitive , you’ll figure it out. The directions are easy enough to follow. When you charge the motor the red light will go out once charged. Use the ‘bump’ buttons (circle with arrow looking buttons) to get the blind in the exact open/closed position to set the motor limits. I had to hold the 50% button for a few seconds before the motor would move.

Alexa - You must have a higbee hub. I struggled with the first hud that I bought on Amazon (not all hubs are equal!) and that’s where their customer service was awesome! I sent a note via Amazon messages and they got me lined up with the right hub and and I was able to connect thru the SmartLife app. NOTE - the hub must be close to the blinds, at least for me it did. 2 rooms away just did not cut it. I used a plug-in WiFi extender and plugged the hub LAN line into the extender and located in the same room as the blinds. Voila, all is good. Once connected I used the remote to position the blind where I wanted it in the closed position and then used the ‘setting’ in the app and clicked on ‘set lower limit’. Repeat for the open position. I created a routine in Alexa and the blinds open and close on command. When connecting to hub the blue light initially blinks but then goes out; it does not stay blinking like most Bluetooth devices but the unit is still in paring mode. Interestingly I found that once I put the motor in pairing mode I hit the up or down button on the remote and that seemed to help the connection (but that may have just been coincidence, as I was trying everything to connect them until I moved the hub into the same room)

Original Review:
These work when setup with the remote. They will NOT work with Alexa even if you have a Zigbee capable ECHO device. You MUST buy THEIR Zigbee hub to get them to work with Alexa. This is absolutely ridiculous. After researching why it wasn't working, I found on Tuya's website forum that they, themselves, indicate they have "private" code written into their implementation of Zigbee, which makes them non-standard. Gave them 2 stars because they do work with the remotes and the instructions were fairly decent.

Updated Review:
After my review above, a Blindsmart customer representative contacted me to help work through the issue I was having. I did indeed require a Tuya compatible Zigbee hub. But based on my feedback, they have added additional verbiage in their listing to ensure it's very clear what is required to use the smart function of these motors for future buyers. They also reached out daily to see if there was anything they could do to assist while I waited for my zigbee hub. To me, that is great customer services..

Once connected to the app, the settings available with their blind motors is much nicer than the other manufacturers motors. I will likely end up ordering a couple more of these motors to replace the other brands I have.

Thank you to Blindsmart for providing great customer services and continuing to check in along the way while I sorted through things.

They work well when they work. I have 2 of these and both have had the same problem. The may work for 10 days or so and then one stops working. Get it working and then the other will quit. They are set up on a schedule. This time the remote lost connection so had to reconnect them with the remote and now only one blind will work, can't get the other to work. They have only been connected for 4 months so I am not able to return the defective one. I'll start shopping for someone else product I guess. The app is also flakey, it usually doesn't show the correct blind position and sometimes it won't control the blinds, again inconsistent.
