First released in 2000, The Jimi Hendrix Experience presents previously unreleased concert and studio recordings which span the visionary guitarist's remarkable four year career from 1966-1970. Beginning with the first known recordings of the Jimi Hendrix Experience in October 1966 to the guitarist's final multi-track recording session at Electric Lady Studios in August 1970, this unique set concentrates on unreleased or commercially unavailable music. Alternate versions of classics like 'Purple Haze,' 'Foxy Lady' and 'Little Wing' mix with stunning, unheard Hendrix music such as 'It's Too Bad' and 'Country Blues.' These recordings - presented in chronological order - trace the meteoric ascent of the greatest guitarist of all time.

Tout le monde sait qu' Hendrix a redéfinit les codes de la guitare en gravant à jamais les tables de loi de la guitare électrique rock et tout le monde sait que sa famille a toujours su faire fructifier l'héritage de Jimi sans jamais sortir un produit qui dégraderait le mythe... du coup avec cette box 4 cd, pas chère qui plus est, on a de très belles choses. Un coffret "simple" (pas de goodies inutiles) mais un gros livret qui nous explique d'où proviennent tous les titres constituant cette compilation gorgée d'inédits et de versions live. Le son est globalement bon. Même sans être un spécialiste ou fan ultime, j'apprécie vraiment tout le matériel qu'il y a dans cette boxset. De la bonne musique, un chouette objet pour les "cdvores" et un prix sympa, que demander de plus?
