Description

The ToolPRO Brake Piston Wind Back Tool Kit will make any brake pad swap easier, but its specialised features make it essential equipment when servicing more complicated disk brake setups. Open up the kit, and you’ll find two threaded piston compressors and an array of adaptors. For all regular disc brake setups, select the right hand threaded piston compressor; and slide the backing plate over the handle. Now select an adaptor which closely matches the piston in size. Ensure that the adaptor chosen sits flush with the piston. Slip the assembly between the piston and the caliper, sit the backing plate against the caliper and wind the thread until the tool contacts the piston. You may need an adjustable wrench to hold the body steady. Now just keep winding, and the piston will gradually press inwards. For disc brake systems with the parking brake incorporated; this Caliper Service Kit is the only way to compress the piston. These must be rotated as they are compressed; a quick look at a service manual will determine in which direction it must be rotated. Choose the left or right hand threaded piston compressor accordingly. Slip the backing plate over the handle, and then turn your attention to the adaptor. This must not only be the correct size, but the pins must also align with the slots in the brake piston. As the end of the tool contacts the piston, ensure that the pins have engaged the piston correctly. Now as you turn the handle, the tool will compress and rotate the piston at the same time.
