Description
This is the big fella right here. You’ll need two hands to lift and pour this inky beast. We’re journeying into the realm of collectible Barossa shiraz now. One block, hand-picked, fermented with wild yeast, basket-pressed then sent to new French oak barriques for two years. Most years this isn’t even released. Lesser wines wouldn’t be able to handle the oak and alcohol contained within, but there’s so much power and drive to the fruit that it all sits neatly in place, behaving itself quite well. Complexity in droves of course: violet, tobacco, chocolate, mocha, cassis, clove, fig, vanilla, and on and on and on. Six years into its life and it’s still a youngster, certainly a thrill to drink but hinting at so much more. Your children will be old and grey before this shiraz is past its prime.
